Sparkle And Shine

Every girl needs a little sparkle in her life; a glimmer here, touch of glitter there, it all plays into the magic of fashion. In the words of Kate Hudson in How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, “It’s just a little frosting.” To be superbly stylish this winter you must also be brilliantly sparkled.

Don’t be fooled by the notion that sequins are reserved for after dark; you can absolutely bring them out during the day if done correctly. The key is to keep it simple and understated, like pairing a pair of skinny jeans with this MM Couture black top ($95) from Boutique Bella. A touch of shimmer added to an ensemble will brighten up any cold, winter day.

Sequins for the day must be subtle, but sequins at night must be glamorous. Go ahead, immerse yourself in glitz – oversized cocktail rings, statement earrings, glitter nail polish, amazing clutches, glitter tights – the fashion opportunities are endless.

(Cocktail ring from The Cotton Mill $49, Diana Warner earrings from Boutique Bella $83, OPI “Excuse Moi” glitter nail polish from The Cosmetic Market $8.50, Halston Heritage clutch from The Cotton Mill $195, Spanx tights from Boutique Bella)

This season there are so many events and holiday outings that your closet will be craving as many fabulous party pieces as it can fit; but don’t stop there, step into the first month of 2012 with a dazzling display of dresses like this gold sequined one from Vince ($495 The Cotton Mill).

For an equally gorgeous alternative to the dress, try a great up-do with this gold Vince skirt ($345 The Cotton Mill) and Velvet Heart tank ($75 Boutique Bella). All the gold, glimmer and shine simply couldn’t be more perfect.

As the days grow colder, there is nothing that will warm the heart more than the flash of light flickering off a sequined ensemble. Well… maybe a handsome gentleman gifting a sparkling diamond or two, but the sequin is a close second.

I spent last week in Florida for what was supposed to be a last hurrah of summer from Gucci Outlet Store ; the only problems with that plan were Tropical Storm Isaac and a wicked cold I brought from New York. What was supposed to be a week of fun in the sun ended up being a week of rest inside, but that meant more time with my family and more time to shop online. Before I left for Florida, I went to the Gucci NYC Flagship to check out their new stirrup collection and I was hooked. From the more structured options to the soft stirrup, there is something for everyone and every different lifestyle. While I ended up adding a new Gucci bag to my collection (post to come soon), there was another bag on my radar that I would have liked to add; the only problem was the price tag from Gucci Online Shopping.
