Mommy & Me: Quality Girl Time!
Sierra Jacobson
Picture four little girls, dressed head to toe in matching Laura Ashley rompers, coordinating handmade bows, ruffled socks and white tennis shoes, and you’ll have a good idea of what my childhood looked like. Growing up, I was inspired by my mother’s style and the way that one sister’s ensemble emulated the next. These are some of my greatest memories.
In a house full of girls, our quality time was spent painting our nails together, shopping, and sitting around a dinner table discussing our lives, our dreams, and — of course — boys. I am often reminded how important these women are to me, and how blessed I am to have four best friends. The relationships between mother and daughter and sister to sister are truly a gift that inspires, challenges, and defines a true friendship.
With school coming to an end and the summer vacation around the corner, now is the perfect time to start the mommy and me bonding. Let’s have some quality girl time!

Mommy & Me Activity
Growing up, most of my Saturdays were spent dancing at a ballet studio, which meant most of my mom and sisters’ afternoons were spent waiting at a ballet studio. Now, theNashville Ballet offers combined Mommy & Me classes and Mommy Pilates or Yoga while the little one pirouettes in her own beginning ballet class (currently offered for children as young as three).
We may not wear Laura Ashley or coordinating bows any more, but even today I call my mom to see what she is wearing to an event before I get dressed, and I still love to spend an afternoon with my sisters getting our nails done together. (However, now we visit a true establishment and not Salon a la Kitchen!) Quality girl time is something that every girl needs, and the memories made will last a lifetime — even if the matching ensembles do not.
