It is in times like these that I learn the most about patience, and to be honest, I must admit to you that patience is something I have not yet mastered. I have learned, however, that having patience means waiting for great things to come. This is true both personally, and in my style choices. I saw this jacket by Milly at Saks while in New York a few years ago, and needless to say I fell head over heels for the piece – but was brought back to reality with the price tag. I yearned for this jacket back then, but decided it was responsible to wait. I am not one for impulse buys and really had to contemplate this purchase. About six months later I was rummaging through the sale rack at Nordstrom and to my pure surprise, my desired jacket was sitting in the middle of this rack. Though not my size, I grabbed it immediately and whisked it away to the mirror. Slipping my arms through the puffed sleeve of the tailor jacket, I knew I had to have it.

I tugged and pinched the coat in hopes that perhaps it would shrink enough to make do, and as I was doing so, a lovely sales associate came to my rescue. She explained to me that a store out of town had the same jacket in a smaller size and they could ship it to me for free – for free! With an excited “yes!” I agreed to the purchase.

The moment I received the email that the package was waiting for me at my condo, I ran downstairs to snap it up. With a wide smile I tried it on in my living room, only to wear it around the house for the rest of the night.

It is pieces like this one that remind me why I love fashion so much. There are only so many things in life that give me that overwhelming joy. And to this day, every time I slip this beautiful jacket on, I am happy and ready to conquer any day.

I hope that you to have pieces in your closet that can bring this sort of emotional response, for it is one that comes seldom and when it does you are instantly inspired and confident. I consider this my lucky jacket and if you see me about town wearing it, you will also see a slight smile upon my face.

Salvatore Ferragamo bow adorned heels – I remember when I found these beautiful shoes. I was having a very rough day, so I decided to head to TJ Maxx to find a cheap little pick me up for my house. Low and behold, I found these beautiful little heels hiding in the sale section. I couldn’t believe that a pair of heels from one of my favorite designers would be so sneakily hiding at TJ Maxx – TJ Maxx for goodness sake! They are a little bit small, but I love them so.
